The degree is a door, not a desk
An LLB, whether or integrated, is a law degree. A career is what you do after you satisfy the further conditions of a particular path. People collapse those two and then feel cheated when convocation does not come with a chair in a firm. The collapse is the error. This note maps kinds of work. It does not offer you any of them. There is no success rate, no salary, and no list of recruiters. If a number of that kind is not in an official or contractual document you can open, it does not belong in your plan.
Start by separating three ideas. Enrolment as an advocate is a regulated status. A job is a contract with an employer. Further study or a competitive exam is another selection. You can want all three at different times. You cannot treat them as one form. The regulated status is explained, still without fees or form numbers, in . A wider menu of roles is in . Confirm any selection rule on the official authority for the year you are applying or appearing.
Kinds of work, described as kinds
Court practice means appearing and advising as an advocate, which presupposes the enrolment rules are met. In-house work means an organisation employs you to read its legal risk. Compliance work means you track obligations a business already has, often beside accountants and company secretaries. Teaching and research mean a university's own hiring rules. Competitive public exams mean the notification of that exam, not a mood called "judiciary." Each of these can use an LLB. None of them is caused by an LLB.
What "corporate" usually confuses
Students hear that company law leads to a corporate career. Company law is a subject. A corporate job is an employer's seat. The subject helps you read the Companies Act. It does not hire you. A student introduction is in . Tax practice is a neighbouring profession with its own statutes and, in this academy, its own notes such as the taxation career material. Crossing into that work is a choice to learn another statute, not a promotion the LLB prints on the degree.
Chambers are not a salary band
Joining a senior's chamber is an apprenticeship some advocates arrange. It is not a national scheme with a wage this page can quote. Ask the chamber, if one is actually offering you a seat, what they expect and whether any money is involved. Do not quote a blog's stipend as if it were a rule. If no chamber has offered you anything, you do not have a chamber career yet. You have an intention. Intentions are allowed. They are not experience.
Skills that travel, and skills that do not
Reading a statute, reading a judgment, and writing a clean note travel into every path above. That is why the catalogue's nearest course is about reading, not about placement. Research as a habit is taught in the note. A moot prize does not replace those skills, and the absence of a moot prize does not close a path. Employers and seniors differ. You will learn their differences by reading their notices, not by memorising a personality type for "litigation people" and "corporate people."
What does not travel is a fake credential. An unrecognised degree, a purchased internship certificate, or a rank in an exam you did not sit will fail at the first check. Build a small folder of work you can explain: a note on a section, a summary of a judgment you actually read, a timeline of a statutory procedure you checked against the Act. The folder is not a job. It is evidence that you can do the reading the job, if you get one, will demand.
A hypothetical about two offers that are not offers
Hypothetical. After the last semester, Noor is told she will "get corporate" because she wrote a paper on directors, and her brother will "get litigation" because he is louder. Neither sentence is an offer. Noor has not applied to an employer. Her brother has not enrolled and has not been asked to assist a senior. The paper and the voice are facts about them. They are not careers.
They each write a one-page plan that names a next document: for the brother, the State Bar Council's enrolment information; for Noor, one employer's published role and whether it asks for a practising certificate. If the employer's notice is silent, she asks the employer, not a group chat. If neither of them wants the Bar, they say so, and they look at study or exams whose notifications they download. The family stops using the words corporate and litigation as compliments. The words go back to meaning kinds of work.
A checklist that refuses a placement story
Plan the next document, not the next identity. 1. Name the path as enrolment, employment, or a further exam. 2. Download the rule or the notice that governs it. 3. List what you already have, including the degree and any recognition question still open. 4. List the skill you can show with a page of your own writing. 5. Delete any salary or placement rate you cannot source. 6. Keep a second path's document in a separate file so the paths do not blur. 7. Confirm on the official authority for the year you are applying or enrolling.
If the checklist's second line is empty, you do not have a plan. You have a wish. Wishes are not careers after LLB. They are the thing this note is trying to slow down.
Reading, not recruitment
Kanoons Academy does not currently list a separate LAWCET, CLAT, or AP LAWCET batch in the catalogue; these notes are study material, and counselling is via . There is no recruitment drive and no LLB here. The nearest catalogue course is . That course teaches how to read an Act, a rule, and a judgment note. It is not a placement programme, and the button on this page uses the course's own name.
No chamber, firm, or court is promised. If a page attaches a job to the fact that you read this one, it is adding a sentence that is not in the text.
Frequently asked questions
Does LLB guarantee a job?
No. The degree is a qualification you then use in a process: enrolment, an employer's hiring, or another exam. This site publishes no placement rate.
Is litigation the only respectable path?
No. Court practice, in-house work, compliance, teaching, and public exams are different kinds of work. Respect is not a legal category, and this note will not rank them.
Do I have to enrol to work in a company?
Enrolment is required for practice as an advocate. Whether a particular employer's role requires a practising certificate is that employer's and the regulator's question. Do not assume every desk needs enrolment, or that none does.
Which LLB length gets better jobs?
This note does not rank 3-year and 5-year degrees as careers. Recognition and your skills matter. The length comparison is a study note, not a hiring table.
Can you name firms that hire?
No. A firm list would be an advertisement and would go stale. Read the employer's own notice.
Is there a placement course in the catalogue?
No. The nearest course is Reading a Statute. It teaches reading, not recruitment.
