The page is evidence, not a wish
Paths after the degree are mapped, without a job promise, in . The regulated step of enrolment is . A resume does not perform either step. What it can show is that you can do the reading described in : a note on a section, a brief of a judgment you opened, a moot you actually entered. If a line would embarrass you when someone asks for the document, delete the line.
Lines that belong, and lines that do not
Belong: the university and the programme, years, a subject you studied, a clinic or internship that will confirm you if asked, and a writing sample you can send. Do not belong: a class rank you were not given, a journal that did not publish you, software skills you cannot demonstrate, and the phrase “expert in corporate law” in the first semester. Do not put a Bar Council enrolment number you do not have. Do not name a senior’s chamber as a workplace if you attended one afternoon. One honest paragraph beats a page of adjectives.
How to describe research without overselling
Say what you read and what you produced. “Summarised the issues in a judgment for a class memo” is a fact. “Advised clients on constitutional strategy” is not, unless you were in a clinic that truly did that and you can say so accurately. Keep client names out. Confidentiality does not pause for a job application. Follow the employer’s own length limit. This note sets none.
A hypothetical about a borrowed rank
Hypothetical. A student adds “top 5%” because a friend used that line. The college publishes no such list. The rewrite deletes the percentage, keeps the degree and a real memo, and does not substitute a motivational adjective. The friend is not a source.
A checklist before you send it
Make every line checkable. 1. Name the degree accurately. 2. List only work you did. 3. Delete ranks you cannot show. 4. Delete enrolment claims you have not completed. 5. Prepare one writing sample you wrote. 6. Remove other people’s confidential facts. 7. Do not treat the resume as a job offer or as a sanad.
Kanoons Academy does not currently list a separate LAWCET, CLAT, or AP LAWCET batch in the catalogue; these notes are study material, and counselling is via . The nearest catalogue course is . That course teaches how to read an Act, a rule, and a judgment note. It is not an entrance-test batch, and the button on this page uses the course’s own name.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include a class rank?
Only if the institution actually awarded one and you can show it. An estimated rank is a false statement.
Can I list an internship I have only applied for?
No. An application is not an internship. List it, if at all, only after you have attended and can describe the work.
Does a good resume enrol me as an advocate?
No. Enrolment is a State Bar Council process. A CV is a description of you for a reader, not a practising certificate.
Will you review my CV on this page?
No. The nearest course is Reading a Statute. It does not edit resumes, and this note does not either.
